No previous accounting or business courses required.

The following are some specific questions that you should ask in assessing the quality of an online masters degree program.

bullet

Does the program use professor-guided web-threaded discussion groups?

Insist on a program with real discussion groups in which both the professor and other students constantly participate in. Without this you may end up with a glorified correspondence-course program.

bullet

What does the graduate program use for a course hosting platform?

This makes a big difference. Insist on a school that uses one of the major student-friendly course platforms, such as eCollege, WebCT, or Blackboard. Of course, every school will tell you that the course software is superb, but not all are.

bullet

Does the course use current videos and lecture materials?

Beware of "canned" courses. Some programs put courses on the web and don't update them every time. The best schools give current, up-to-date class materials, just like you would expect in an on-campus class.

bulletBe sure to check out the school's accreditation. Don't rely on a familiar-sounding name or web site.

Florida Atlantic University is the fastest growing university in the United States.
